Matt joined the band in early 2010 and faithfully memorized all the original drum parts before beginning a new chapter with the band, utilizing the addition of his writing style. Prior to playing with Quandry, he moved to Portland from Hawaii with his previous band ‘Red Dirt’, who found some success in the area before disbanding.
Matt grew up on the Big island and was inspired by several different genres ranging from Deftones, Chili Peppers, Phil Collins to Dave Brubeck. Finding his earliest influences from the drumming of Danny Carey, Chad Smith, Dave Cunningham, Vince Paul, and Lars Ulrich. When he’s not involved in making music you can find him mixing cocktails a plenty, exploring the great outdoors, and painting when time allows.
